Emergency Information

Woodhouse is fully monitored by the MFS for fire in any of the buildings. Fire Alarms are operational 24 hours per day, this means that there is no smoking in any of the buildings at any time. False alarms in the main accommodation centres will cause attendance by the Fire Services, and will incur a penalty fee. Residents of The Old House also please note that there is no smoking on the verandahs, or within 10 meters of the building.

If your group at any stage needs to evacuate the building please follow these instructions:

Building Fire

  • Phone 000 and advise location of fire: –
    • Woodhouse Scout Camp, 37 Spring Gully Rd, Piccadilly, South Australia (tell them which building you are staying in), or
    • Seeonee Hills, 182 Muller Road Bridgewater.
  • Ensure all members of the group are evacuated to the assembly area (see below)
  • Check your group attendance roll to ensure all your group members are accounted for.
  • If minor fire attempt to extinguish with Fire Extinguishers located in the building
  • Contact Duty Warden on 8339 3333

Bush Fire

  • Ensure all members of the group are accounted for (use list of guests).
  • Ensure that all members remain within the building.
  • Phone Country Fire Service on 000, and the Duty Warden.
  • Warden will make contact with your group as soon as possible.
  • If evacuation is required CFS or police will organise.

Remember in most instances of bushfire a building is the safest place to be.

Emergency Assembly Areas

  • Rymill Centre: Main car park across the entrance road, opposite the centre.
  • Old House & Bunkhouse: Car park opposite workshop/store.
  • Seeonee Hills: Open ground around the fire circle, opposite the kitchen entrance.

Please familiarise yourself & your group participants with the appropriate assembly area during your introductory talk.

Medical

  • If necessary, call Ambulance by phoning 000, and advising the operator that you require Stirling Ambulance Service. Advise the operator which part of Woodhouse or Seeonee Hills the emergency is located.
  • Advise the Duty Warden and the office.
  • Provide the office with a written report of the incident, together with all relevant names, addresses, etc. Please include witness reports where possible.
  • All leaders are to be responsible for providing a first aid kit for their groups.
