Senior Retreats

Compass: Finding Connection Through Leadership and Direction

Designed for students in Year 11 and 12, the Compass retreat is a transformative outdoor experience that builds the mindset, confidence and connection needed for success in senior schooling and beyond. Set in nature, the program supports students to reflect on their personal strengths, values, supports, and their hopes and dreams - fostering a stronger sense of self and direction.

Aligned with the Senior Secondary Pathways, Compass supports student wellbeing and life readiness at a critical time. The 2-night, 3-day retreat nurtures the emotional and social skills students need to thrive in Year 12, prepare for further study, and navigate life beyond the classroom with confidence.

Curriculum-linked Learning Outcomes

The Compass retreat is mapped to the Australian Curriculum: General Capabilities and the Senior Secondary Wellbeing Framework, supporting student development across the following areas:

  • Personal and Social Capability: Build resilience, self-awareness and wellbeing strategies through reflective practice, journaling and immersive outdoor experiences.
  • Critical and Creative Thinking: Strengthen problem-solving, innovation and decision-making through collaborative challenges and art-based activities.
  • Ethical Understanding: Explore values and ethical decision-making in both individual reflection and group contexts.
  • Intercultural Understanding: Develop empathy, respect and inclusivity through structured collaboration, active listening and shared experiences.
