The two totem poles out the front of Hooper Bunkhouse are an important part of Woodhouse history! At the 10th Australian Scout Jamboree held at Woodhouse in 1973-1974 they were used by the Papua New Guinea contingent to create an impressive gateway to their camping area. At the conclusion of the event the poles were generously gifted to Woodhouse. In 2022 the totem poles were restored to their former glory by the volunteers of the Scout Social & Service Group and installed in a central location for everyone to enjoy as a symbol of cross-cultural friendship and respect.
